Privacy policy
The short version: RetroHead Alarm has no accounts, no cloud sync, no ads and no analytics. Everything you set up stays on your phone. We don't collect, receive, sell or share any of your data.
Who we are

What the app stores, and where
The app saves the following only on your phone, in its private storage, so your alarms work:
- Your alarms and their settings: times, repeat days, labels, sounds, volume, snooze rules and the task games you picked.
- The contents of the QR codes you register for a Special Alarm. That's the text inside each code, used to check you scanned the right one.
- Your app settings, such as your theme and 12- or 24-hour clock.
- Copies of files you choose yourself: a sound you add as a ringtone, or a photo you pick as a wallpaper.
- The state of an alarm that's ringing right now, so it can carry on if your phone restarts.
None of this is sent to us or anyone else. The app sends no data over the internet. It is also excluded from Android's cloud backup, so it isn't copied to your Google account. That means it won't move to a new phone, and uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Permissions, and exactly why each one is needed
- CameraOnly to scan QR codes, while you're registering a code or completing a Special Alarm. Camera images are analysed on your phone as they arrive and are never saved, recorded or shared.
- Physical activity (activity recognition)Only for the Step game, to read your phone's built-in step sensor while that game is on screen. Step counts are not stored. If you decline, the game counts steps with the motion sensor instead.
- Motion sensor (accelerometer)For the Squat game, and for Step if your phone has no step sensor. This needs no permission prompt. Readings are used live to count reps and are never stored.
- NotificationsTo show the alarm when it goes off, and a status notification while a challenge is running.
- Alarms and reminders (exact alarms)So alarms, snoozes, timers and challenge deadlines go off at exactly the right moment.
- Full-screen notificationsSo the ringing screen can appear over your lock screen.
- Foreground service and keeping the phone awakeSo the alarm keeps ringing, and a challenge keeps its timer, even if you leave the app.
- Run at startupSo your alarms are set again after your phone restarts.
- VibrationTo vibrate when the alarm rings, and for small taps of feedback in the games.
The app does not ask for access to your photos, files, contacts or location. When you pick a wallpaper or a ringtone, Android's own picker hands the app only the one file you chose. QR codes you download as a PDF or image are saved to your Downloads folder only when you ask for them.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment, and we never see your card or payment details. The app only learns whether the unlock has been bought. Google's own privacy policy covers the purchase itself.
This website
This site has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google's servers and Google may receive your IP address as part of that request. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.
Children
The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Delete an alarm in the app to remove it and its QR codes. To remove everything, clear the app's storage in Android Settings or uninstall the app. There is nothing stored anywhere else for us to delete.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
